Directions: today you will make 4 Climographs. The
tools you learn today will help you to finish your African county project. A climograph is a graphical depiction of the monthly
precipitation and temperature conditions for a selected place. Precipitation is shown by the bar graph. A line graph depicts
temperature. To create a Climograph you will need to follow the instructions below
- Open
a Microsoft Excel Worksheet.
- Label
the first three Columns: A: Time (ex. Months) B: Precipitation C: Temperature
- Be sure to label your measurement system (Inches, Fahrenheit)
- Now
you will need information, once found enter the data on the Spread sheet, it should look as such

- After
you have collected your data, Select (Highlight) all of your Data, and only data.
- In
the top Navigation bar click on “Insert” , then scroll over and click “Column” choose a 2D Chart
- You
should now have a simple bar chart. In the top Navigation go to “Chart Tools” and Select “Format”
- In
the top left a pull down Menu reads “Chart Area” click and Drag it to “Rainfall”
- Underneath
the pull down menu click the Format Selection button.
- Click
the “Plot Series On” button to Secondary Axis. Then close the box.
- Now
go back to Chart tools and Click on Design. Make sure rainfall is still selected.
- In
the far left click the “Change Chart type” Button Click on Line and
hit Ok
- Open
a blank Microsoft Word Document, Paste Data, and Chart in the word document.
